I have always loved the idea of traveling and discovering, exploring, and experiencing. Last year I got to travel back East to visit South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. I have also traveled to Mexico, making a road trip out of it and stopping at the Grand Canyon and a few other places. I've also been to Oregon, California and a few other close places. Next year I will make a road trip to Nebraska. In the future I hope to travel even farther, to Europe. I want to go to historical sites both in the US and in other countries and experience other cultures.
Ever since I was a kid and my mom was reading me children's stories I've loved the places you can go inside a book. So on every opportunity I like to pick up a book and read, sometimes I chose a favorite book whose pages are now fragile. Other times I love to pick something new from which I can learn. Some of my favorite things to read include historical fiction novels, particularly about the Russian Revolution, Royalty or the Middle Ages. I love to read just about anything, I would have to say most text books are on my dislike list, but I enjoy the places they can take you. If I am never able to travel to the places I want I can at least learn about them.
History is another subject that I have always found fascinating. It's also something I'm studying as my minor. I've always felt that by having a better understanding of the past and the people who lived in it, we can have a better tomorrow. History shows us how we got to be where we are and tells the stories of those who lived before. The church encourages learning about your ancestors and that's just another great part of history.
