The main reason why I love playing games is simply because it's fun. When a person is playing games they literally are playing. After having a long day of work and school, who wouldn't want to just sit down and play? Even if a person doesn't have work or school, playing games is a break from life. A moment where games are played is a time to relax and get away from all the stresses of the world. When I play a game, I don't need to think about any homework assignments, a rough day if I had one, I just get to enjoy the moment in front of me. Playing games is a blast!
Playing games not only presents a moment for all players to have fun without any other care in the world, but the activity also brings people together. There is nothing more rewarding than being surrounded by people you enjoy being around. The best is playing games with close friends and family. It gives everyone a chance to be together and everyone's focus is simply on playing. In fact, if there is someone I may be upset at for the day, playing games with them truly does bring us together; after playing there's suddenly nothing to be upset about. Games not only bring people together if they're arguing, but it can even bring them together to form a better relationship with them. I'm not lying when I say that I met my husband from playing a game. Playing games truly brings people together; making the close even closer.
Another wonderful advantage to playing games is taking on a challenge. It helps stimulate the mind and focus on using skills to complete the game. Some games require more thought than others, but my favorite is Bananagrams. This game is another version of scrabble where people receive little letters to form their own crossword puzzle, but they must be the first to complete their crossword puzzle to win. Playing this game definitely requires thought and skill, and creates the challenge. The challenge also makes winning the game even more rewarding. Unfortunately, my husband wins this game every single time. However, it makes me want to play the game even more so that one day I can win. Why he still plays, I don't really know.
I learned so many different things in my creating online media class. In fact, everything I learned was something new because I came into the class with zero knowledge of html, css, and php. I didn't think that creating websites would be easy, but after working with programs like Adobe InDesign, I thought that positioning items would be as easy as dragging it with the mouse. It was a difficult concept to grasp and I still haven't mastered the art of creating online media, but I have learned so much that I know with practice I can become even better.
I also learned how valuable the skill of creating online media really is. It looks great on resumes and it can help land me a job if I tell a future employer that I understand the basics of html, css, and php. The reason this skill is so important is because there is so much done online. With all the technological advances, people now can have access to the internet in their pocket no matter where they are. Not only does a vast majority of people use and access online media, but since it is more difficult to learn than other programs such as Adobe InDesign, there are fewer amounts of people who have this skill set. In fact, there are companies who offer website templates to businesses so they can experience an easy-to-use way of creating their online media. Having the knowledge of creating online media for myself will allow me to go beyond that of a typical website template.
