'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.'
Leonardo da Vinci. I tend not to jump to absolutes; nearly everybody I encounter these days seems to be increasingly fond of frilly bells and whistles. People focus far to often the on the superficial rather than the deep down insides: on the branches instead of on the leaves.
They say there are two paths for those who follow Western medicine: death, or conversion to Eastern medicine. Eastern medicine has been practiced and refined over 2,000 years. Western medicine was 'If God wills it'
500 years ago. In our Western system doctors focus on the surface without ever going deeper; they get paid to keep us on the brink of death, sick but alive, so we can live on to pay the bills. In the ideal eastern system, the doctors get paid while their patients are healthy, and charged when they are sick.
I learned the importance of principle- of doing things properly because it is proper. Through Brother Judkins example and also through content of our book I learned that it is important to code in the proper format, and using all of the proper tags, simply because it is proper. Also, it comes out in the end, that it will save you time and make things easier on the coder when it comes down to the line.
This is a principle that I feel many people have forgotten. When Brother Judkins ranted endlessly about good form and proper tags and such, many of us were bewildered. But I think that by now many of us have learned that doing things properly is important, simply because of the principle.
