After taking some fun communication classes at BYU-Idaho, I've discovered a hobby that I have learned to love: photography. Since this discovery, I've taken photojournalist photos for the school newspaper, portraits for families and couples, sports activities, and pictures for commercial brochures and posters. But my favorite kind of photography is landscape. I really love to capture different kinds of lighting, with really interesting subjects of this beautiful earth. The most important thing I've learned from photographing is that it's not all about the kind of camera or equipment, it's all about the creativity. I have a Canon Rebel XSI and have become obsessed with upgrading some day, but that means nothing. Anyone can take magical pictures regardless the equipment and I always try to remember that I can't let the camera do all the work.
Finding new places, new lighting, new angles, and new content is all part of the fun and talent. It is so rewarding that at the end of a long hard-working shoot, finding an image I captured that turned out perfect brings me so much happiness. Taking a picture can create moments that may have been much different than actually being there. It can create a bland boring subject into an enchanting moment. I love being able to capture moments that will never be replaced, especially spontaneous times. I find so much joy in looking back at moments and memories from my life and am thankful for a talent that creates a way of this remembrance.
I came into this class knowing absolutely nothing about webdesign. I had heard the word 'html' and knew that it was some sort of coding that looked like jibberish to me. Throughout the first few days, things became more and more confusing. But suddenly I started to undertand. The day brother judkins taught us by using us as tags and content, it was as though a light bulb had just turned on in my head and I recognized what made things change and why things work the way they do. Then, learning CSS became fun, almost like a game which easily became addicting.
I love designing and I tried my best to incorporate my design skills into my website projects. Looking back on my projects, I can see a stark difference in improvement from project 1 and project 3. I feel as though I have learned an incredible amount throughout this semester.
