Into languages and law

Comm 310 Projects:

languages and law

I really love learning. It's one of my favourite things to do. I know, super nerdy, but hey, it's me.

I really love languages. I always have. I was raised in Europe and have always been exposed to different languages. My first language was French because we moved from Leamington, England to Paris, France while I was still young. I am also studying french now while attending BYU-Idaho. It's pretty cool because now i am learning all the rules to the language and all the exceptions to the rules and that they are not really exceptions but really just new rules. Yeah, it sounds complicated, but it really isn't.

I took Hebrew last semester and it blew my mind. It was Biblical Hebrew so I spent a lot of the semester translating verses from the King James Version of the Bible. It was a lot of fun and some day I hope to continue that pursuit.

Right now I am chasing after a different dream. Russian. It is such a beautiful language. Я очень люблю русский язык. My love for Russian started when I went to Ukraine to teach english. Now I continue to learn and study Russian, speaking it both inside and outside the classroom

My second love is law. A few semesters ago I took American Foundations course with an emphasis in the U.S.Constitution. I realized how much we are not following the Constitution. It is an amazing document created by God inspired men to help us. I really want to bring us back to following the Constitution. So I am thinking about going to law school. I'm not sure I have the grades to do it, but I do try my hardest 98% of the time! Wish me luck!

persistence

When I first started this class I didn't think it was going to be that hard. It turns out I was so wrong. I use the internet all the time and I never knew how complicated it was. I thought http was just the stuff you put before your website... turns out it stands for something! Who knew?!? So now that we've established that I started at ground zero...! I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of html but css is a whole different story. I see some of the amazing websites and only wish I knew how to replicate something even remotely as cool as that. I still am not sure how to do all the amazing stuff that css can do, but at least now I am aware of it. I am beginning to understand php; or at least I think I am.

This class has definitely given me a huge appreciation for any website that looks even a little cool. I used to get irritated at lame websites and now i realize that they just don't understand css. I am also really grateful that I learned about being able to view the page source. I didn't know you could do that before. Now when I stubble across a website that looks cool I click to see it's source and then look at the style sheet. It's a really useful tool. I am compiling a word doc full of my favourite css tricks so that later I can go through them and see how to use them!
